Description
1 and 2 Park Close are two houses, now converted into houses and flats, dating from the early 18th century with later alterations and additions. They are constructed of ironstone rubble with a hipped slate roof and brick lateral stacks. The building is a single storey plus attic with a two-window range. The central entrance features a part-glazed door with an overlight and a tiled canopy porch. To the left of the doorway is a bay window, and to the right is a sash window. The attic storey includes two eaves dormers with hipped roofs.
No. 2 is built of ironstone ashlar and has a hipped slate and tile roof with brick end stacks. It is two storeys plus an attic and has a three-window range. The central doorway has an overlight and a canopy porch, flanked by sashes that are four panes wide. The first floor has three similar windows, and there are two gabled roof dormers. The rear of both houses features scattered fenestration, including sashes, wood-mullioned and transomed windows, and a two-light stone-mullioned cellar window. The rear entrance is accessed via steps. The interior is said to contain a 17th-century staircase.
