Description

The Butchers Arms Public House is a public house located on Wroxton Shutford Road in Balscote. It consists of two sections: the left part dates from the early 19th century, while the right part is from the mid to late 18th century.

The left section is constructed of squared coursed ironstone and features a slate roof with brick end stacks. It has three storeys and a three-window range. The central entrance has a 20th-century door with panelled reveals on the interior, flanked by sash windows that have stone lintels. The first and second floors also have three similar windows.

The right section, which is attached, is made of coursed squared ironstone rubble and has a steeply pitched corrugated asbestos roof. This part has a two-unit plan and two storeys with a two-window range. It features two entrances: one with a panelled and glazed door and another with a plank door. There is a continuous lintel over the left entrance, and two 20th-century windows, one of which has a wooden lintel. The first floor has two three-light windows with metal casements and wooden lintels, along with ironstone quoins. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
