Description

Spring Cottage is a house dating back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble and has a raised asbestos tile roof, with brick ridge and end stacks, the ridge stack resting on a stone base. The house follows a three-unit plan. The ground floor entrance, positioned off-centre to the left, features a 20th-century door and wood lintel. To the left of the entrance is a stone slated bow window, also from the 20th century. A stone slated bread oven projection, of a segmental form, is visible to the right. The ground floor also includes a renewed three-light wooden casement window with a 20th-century lintel. The first floor has two 20th-century windows and a three-light window fitted with a metal casement and a wrought-iron fastener. The interior reportedly contains beams and inglenooks.
