Description
The Peacock Inn is a public house dated 1702, located on the north side of Main Street in Redmile. It is constructed from coursed ironstone and features a roof made of black glazed pantiles. The building has a lobby-entrance plan, which has been altered over time. It stands two storeys high and consists of three bays, with an additional bay for the door positioned to the left of the centre. To the left of the door, there is one three-light mullioned casement window, and two similar windows to the right. The first floor has three smaller casements, all of which are set under ironstone skewback arches. Above the door, there is a plaque that reads: S.R.E. 1702. The building is topped with high gable parapets on kneelers, and the original thatch was removed in the early 19th century, leading to alterations in the roof structure. A ridge stack is located over the door, and there is an internal gable-end stack to the north. Inside, a brick fireplace separates two ground floor rooms, and there are stop-chamfered bridging beams with run-out stops. A winder staircase is situated against the rear wall.
