Description
This oasthouse, located 15 metres east of Whisketts Farmhouse, dates from around 1800 and underwent alterations and extensions in the late 19th century. The building features a red brick ground floor and a tile-hung first floor, with red brick kilns. It has plain tiled roofs and consists of two parallel ranges for stowage. The late 19th-century range is two storeys high with a gabled roof, a boarded loft door to the left, a half-shuttered casement to the right, and half-doors at the centre of the ground floor. There are casements and boarded doors on the return elevations. The earlier range is also two storeys with a half-hipped roof, featuring two wooden casements on each floor and loft doors on the rear elevation. Originally, there were two roundels and one square kiln; currently, only the square kiln remains, with one roundel undergoing rebuilding. The interior is largely unaltered and includes a hop press in situ.
