Description
This is an oasthouse, likely built in the mid-19th century, located immediately west of Mile Oak Farmhouse on Mile Oak Road in Paddock Wood. The ground floor is constructed of Flemish bond brick, while the first floor is weatherboarded. It features a peg-tile roof and a brick kiln topped with a peg-tile roof.
The oasthouse is two storeys tall and is oriented on a west-east axis, perpendicular to the farmhouse, with the kiln situated at the eastern end. The exterior includes a circular kiln with a conical roof, brick cogging beneath the eaves, and a cowl. The eastern end of the stowage has been converted into a garage. On the south elevation, there is one two-light casement window on the first floor. The north elevation has three first-floor openings, one of which has slender mullions, along with a centrally located door on the ground floor. The interior has not been inspected.
