Description
This building is an oasthouse with twin hop kilns, located at the south end of Bush Farmhouse. It was converted into a dwelling and dates from the late 18th century to the late 19th century. The structure consists of two parts. The northern section is a late 18th century red brick range featuring a dentilled eaves cornice and a tiled roof. It is a single-storey building with an attic, comprising three bays and irregular window arrangements, including 19th century casements and a 20th century dormer. The entrance is located on the west side in the northern bay. Inside, the roof features king posts with struts that support the principal rafters.
The southern section consists of the twin hop kilns, built in the late 19th century using red and blue brick. These kilns have pyramidal slate roofs that support vanes and are designed in a square plan, standing two large storeys tall. The interior retains slatted first floors. This oasthouse is part of a picturesque agricultural group.
