Description

Moorcroft Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th to 18th century. It features a timber-frame structure with brick infill arranged in regular square panels and has two residual diagonal struts. The roof is plain tiled and hipped to the left, with an external brick end stack on the left side. The building is a long two-storey range that was formerly partly agricultural. It has six groups of windows, mostly C20 steel casements. The entrance is located roughly under the second window from the left and consists of a plain ledged C20 oak doorcase and door, situated beneath a three-bay C20 pentice that is of no special interest. There are large inserted French casements roughly in the center of the facade.

A brick and stone C19 tallet staircase leads to a former granary, which is now part of the dwelling, with access through a former internal c1700 moulded pine panelled door. The right gable has been rebuilt, and there is a hipped C19 extension to the rear with a porch facing the road, as well as a two-storey brick extension to the left. Inside, the left end of the main range consists of two bays set at right angles, supported by heavy hip supports. Both sections have raking struts to the purlins, and the floor beams feature stop-chamfers with run-out stops.
