Description
The Branches is a cottage that likely dates from the 16th century, but more probably from the 17th century. It features a timber-frame construction with regular square panels made of wattle-and-daub, and some sections are in brick. The roof is tiled. The building has one storey above a cellar and includes attic dormers. It consists of three bays and has two entrances with 19th-century planked doors: one is located at the left of the left bay, and the other is at the right of the centre bay. Each bay has a set of 19th-century casement windows, and there is a chimney with a detached brick shaft at the rear of the left bay. Inside, there is a large chimney at the junction of the centre and right bays, and collars with raking struts in each of the gables define the bays. The left-hand bay features a cross-beam arrangement in the passage. The building was roofless at the time of the last survey in March 1984.
