Description

This cart shed, located about 100 metres south west of Crowbourne Farmhouse, dates from the early 19th century and incorporates earlier timbers. It is timber framed and weather-boarded, topped with a plain tiled roof. The building is a single-storey hipped structure with four bays, featuring an open arcaded main elevation and boarded carriage doors at the right end bay. Inside, there are large braced frames in each bay, indicating a 19th-century construction, although the timbers are of substantial size, with some posts displaying gunstock jowls and old mortice holes, many of which are truncated. The cart shed is included for its group value.
