Description
Hammonds Farmhouse is a house, now divided into two homes, dating from the 16th century. It features a timber-framed structure with large panel framing and plaster infill, along with weather-boarding and tile hanging on the return elevations. The base is made of sandstone and red brick, topped with a plain tiled roof. The building has three framed bays and an entrance bay with a lobby entry plan. It stands two storeys high with a garret and has a half-hipped roof, where the hip ends overhang as if for hoist lucarns. There are stacks positioned to the centre right and a projecting, offset stack at the front left. The first floor has blocked framed window openings on the left and right, and a central three-light casement window on both floors. A plank and stud door is located to the centre right, with a boarded door in the left return at the top of a flight of steps. The return elevations feature irregular wooden casements, and there is a catslide outshot at the rear.
