Description
Trottenden is a house that dates back to the 16th century, with later cladding and extensions from the 18th century and around 1910. It features a timber-framed structure that is clad and extended with red brick and tile hanging, topped with plain tiled roofs. The entrance or garden front has two storeys, with chimney stacks at both ends and a rear wing that overhangs to the right. The front has a regular arrangement of three leaded metal casements on the first floor and two on the ground floor, along with a central boarded door and sidelights set in a timbered, gabled porch. To the left, there is a 1910 extension that has a pendant bargeboard gable and a separately roofed structure featuring a five-light casement on the first floor and a bay window on the ground floor, along with a mid-20th century glass conservatory at the far left. The right side of the building retains its original hipped roof with gablets and a chimney stack at the rear, along with irregular window arrangements. The full timber frame is reported to be visible inside.
