Description
Sheppards Barn is a house that dates back to the 16th century, although it has been significantly extended and completely restored in the 20th century. The building features a timber-framed core set on a rubblestone plinth, with red and blue brick cladding above. The left extension and the first floor of the gable front wing to the right are tile hung. The roof has boarded eaves and is plain tiled, with a half hipped design on the left and a lower hipped roof over the extension to the left. There is a central stack and additional stacks at the rear. The house has two storeys and five 20th-century leaded casement windows across the first floor. A half-glazed door is located at the centre, sheltered by a flat porch hood. The rear of the building has extensive 19th and 20th-century additions. Inside, much of the restored framing is visible, particularly on the ceilings, and there is a deep rendered fireplace with a wooden lintel.
