Description

Tenchleys Manor is a house dating back to the 16th century, with additions and alterations made in the 19th century. It is timber-framed, built upon a rubblestone plinth that is galleted to the right-hand return front. The house has brick cladding and tile hanging above, with plain tiled roofs and end stacks located at the front right and rear. The central range is flanked by projecting end wings. The house is two storeys high with attics, showcasing a central hip roof with a casement dormer and a gable on the right-hand wing. There is one casement window on the first floor of both the centre and left wings. A planked door is set within a pent roof porch on the right-hand gabled wing, with a further door in a pent roof porch to the right of the centre of the house. A pent roof extension extends across the ground floor of the left side. The right-hand return front displays square panel framing with rendered infill, extending over a basement. It has two projecting late 19th-century casement windows and two 17th-century casement windows with central mullions on each floor. The rear of the house exhibits exposed timber framing on the left side, with more significant alterations on the right. Inside, the timber framing is visible, alongside panelled walls and a carved fireplace surround.
