Description
Clayhill is a house located in Goudhurst, dating from the early 17th century and altered in the 18th century. The building features a timber frame and is tile hung, with a red brick ground floor, partly constructed in English Bond. It has a symmetrical two-cell lobby entry plan and stands two storeys high, with a garret and basement set on a plinth. A large, moulded central stack is a prominent feature. The windows are regularly arranged, with two three-light wooden casements on each floor, a central two-light casement on the first floor, and a central door with two panels topped by a moulded flat hood. At the rear, there is a catslide outshot, and to the right side, a basement opening with a basket arch. There is a brick to the left of the front door inscribed with "IC 1764."
