Description
This is an oasthouse located about 50 metres west of Forge Farmhouse, dating from the early 19th century and incorporating an earlier structure. It is timber framed and clad with corrugated iron, featuring a red brick kiln topped with a plain tiled roof and a wooden cowl. The building has two storeys for stowage, with an extension or aisle at the rear that includes two wooden casements on each side. The first floor has a loft door on the south side and a boarded door on the east side with a raking hood. There are carriage doors on the rear elevation. The square plan kiln is situated to the west, with a raking lucarn on the south side and a gabled lucarn on the north side, along with blocked door openings at ground level on each face and a boarded door on the west. Notably, the ground floor brickwork is older in some areas than the upper sections, and the cowl remains intact without a winder.
