Description
A house dating back to the 16th century, it was altered around 1700 and extended in the 19th century. The structure is timber-framed and partially clad with ornamental tile hanging on the ground floor, with the remainder in red brick in English bond. The roof is tiled, with a half-hipped design and chimneys positioned centrally to the left and at the right end. The house has three framed bays, creating a lobby entry. It stands on a plinth, with visible 16th-century brickwork at the right end. The windows are metal casements; the first floor has 2, 1, 3 and 2-light openings, while the ground floor has 3, 3 and 2-light windows. A 20th-century plank and stud door, set within a gabled porch, is located at the centre-left. A single-story rear wing was added around 1830. A length of early 19th-century garden wall, approximately 3 feet high, projects from the right end; it ramps down at its furthest point and is located around 25 feet from the house. Inside, the full timber frame remains visible, with fluted jowls and a clasped purlin roof featuring rafters which appear to be reused and soot blackened. Features include an inglenook and ceiling beams with tongue stopped chamfered stops.
