Description

Brownings is a cottage dating from the late 18th century. It is timber framed and weather-boarded, topped with a plain tiled roof. The building has an L-shaped plan and consists of one storey and an attic. The entrance is now located in the left return, featuring gambrel roofs on both wings and a central stack with an illegible datestone in the roadside range. On the entrance front, there is a flat-roofed dormer and a garret in the hip end to the right, along with a wooden casement window and a half-glazed door on the ground floor, which is sheltered by a gabled porch. The main range facing the road has two flat-roofed dormers and three wooden casements on the ground floor, with the central opening originally serving as the main doorway.
