Description
Forge Farmhouse is a house that dates back to the 16th century and was clad and extended in the 18th century. It features a timber frame with a red and blue chequered brick base and tile hanging on the first floor, along with weatherboarding on the left side. The roof is plain tiled. The house has a lobby entry plan with three framed bays, extended by one bay to the left. It stands two storeys high on a plinth, with the roof line stepping down to the left, featuring a hipped double span, while the other side has a tile-hung gable.
There is a moulded stack cluster located to the centre right with angled flues and a stack projecting at the left end. On the first floor, there are three 3-light casements and one 2-light casement to the centre right, while the ground floor has two tripartite glazing bar sashes and a single glazing bar sash to the right. The main entrance, located to the centre right, is a half-glazed door set within a simple surround. To the right, there is a single-storey hipped extension with the main entrance in a hipped, columned porch. At the rear, there is a catslide outshot. Historical records indicate that a working furnace was present on this site at least since the 16th century.
