Description
The Blake headstone, dated 1774, is located 4 metres northeast of the organ loft of the Church of St Mary the Virgin in Speldhurst. This headstone is an upright sandstone slab that stands approximately 600mm high and features a simple shaped head. The first word of the inscription is presented in Gothic lettering and is surrounded by scrolls, while the remainder of the inscription uses Roman serif upper and lower case lettering to commemorate the death of Edmund Blake in 1774.
