Description

GOUDHURST HORDEN TQ 74 SE 2/197 Little Horden GV II House. Circa 1600, altered and extended C18. Timber-framed and clad with red and blue chequered brick on ground floor and tile hung on 1st floor, with plain tiled roof. Two storeys and garret on English Bond brick plinth with pilaster butt- resses to corbelled cornice to 1st floor, with moulded wooden eaves cornice to swept roof, half-hipped to left, hipped to right. The end right window bay a later rebuilding. Tall, moulded stack to rear centre left. Originally regular fenestration of 2 three light wooden casement on each floor, with central 2 light on 1st floor, and central door of 6 panels with hipped hood. Single casement on 1st floor to right, and paired casements on ground floor. Catslide outshot to rear. Interior: tongue-stopped chamfered spine beams and chamfered gunstock- jowled main posts to frame, originally eccentrically braced. Clasped purlin roof, with alterations, the original roof with raised-cruck like principal rafters. Some early plank and muntin doors survive.
