Description

Little Combourne Farmhouse is a house dating back to the 15th century, with significant extensions from the early 19th century. It is constructed with a timber frame, with some sections displaying exposed panelled framing and close-studding with plaster infill. The first floor is tile hung, the ground floor is rendered and painted with exposed red brick, and the rear right return is weather boarded. The house originated as a hall house and cross-wing, with a later parallel range added.

The entrance front, dating from around 1800, is two storeys and has a basement, with a hipped roof and stacks at each end. It has a regular arrangement of 3 wooden casement windows on the first floor and 2 on the ground floor. A hipped roof porch shelters the central boarded entrance door. The rear wing is two storeys with a garret and has a half-hipped roof and a group of stacks in the centre left. A separately roofed hipped two-storey cross-wing projects to the left. It has two wooden casement windows on the first floor, one on the ground floor of the cross-wing, and three on the ground floor of the main range. The cross-wing exhibits exposed framing whilst the main range has exposed main posts.

The interior features a fully exposed timber frame and inglenook fireplaces.
