Description

Curfew Cottage is a house, likely dating back to the 16th century or earlier, and extended in the mid-19th century. It is timber-framed and weather boarded, with the rear elevations covered in tile hanging. The roof is tiled and half-hipped with large gablets, featuring a cluster of chimneys on the right side, and with rear and left-side lean-to additions. The original section of the house is at the rear and is two storeys high. A projecting, two-storey gabled wing, added in the 19th century, has moulded bargeboards and a chimney stack. The wing features paired sash windows on the first floor and a canted, hipped bay window with sash windows on the ground floor. The entrance is located in the angle between the two wings, consisting of a raking porch with a half-glazed door and wooden casement sidelights.
