Description
A pair of cottages, likely dating back to the 16th century or earlier, were substantially altered and re-clad in the mid-19th century. The cottages have a timber frame and a plain tiled roof, with the ground floor clad in red and blue chequered brick. They are arranged with a lobby entry plan and cross-wings. The cottages are two storeys high, with a projecting gabled wing added in the 19th century, and a three-storeyed cross-wing to the right. Chimneys are located at the left end, to the rear right, and clustered towards the centre right. The left-hand wing features a large three-light wooden casement window on each floor, along with a panelled door to the right. The main range has two metal casement windows on each floor, and a central wooden casement window on the first floor, with a boarded door in a raking porch to the centre right. The tall, three-storeyed wing on the right has a steeply pitched hipped roof. A substantial timber frame is reported to be present within the structure.
