Description
Plain Cottages is a row of houses that was originally a farmhouse, dating from the 18th century or earlier. The ground floor features a chequered pattern of red and grey brick, while the first floor is tile-hung. The building has a plain tile roof and stands two storeys high with a garret, all resting on a chamfered brick plinth. The roof is half-hipped, and there is a brick ridge stack located towards the left end. The windows are arranged irregularly, consisting of three 3-light casements. There is a boarded door with a flat hood situated under the stack, and to the right, there is a lean-to with a door on the long side leading to No. 3. No. 1 has a half-glazed door in a 20th-century rear addition on the left. The interior has not been inspected. This building was formerly known as Plain Farm.
