Description

Saynden Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse that has undergone 19th-century alterations and 20th-century additions. The ground floor is constructed of red and grey brick in Flemish bond, while the first floor features banded plain and fishscale tiles. The roof is covered with plain tiles and is designed in an L-shape, with a rear return wing to the right. The front range includes a central entrance hall and stairwell, flanked by one room on each side, along with a single-bay rear wing. There is a later rear addition that fills the angle, and a single-bay 20th-century addition made of similar materials at the left end, both front and rear.

The farmhouse stands two storeys high with an attic on a chamfered brick plinth. The roof is gabled on the left side and hipped on the right, with the hip returning. The rear right wing and the 19th-century wing also have half-hipped roofs. There are rear stacks positioned to the right and left of the 18th-century house, as well as at the rear of the left addition. The building features two hipped dormers and has irregular fenestration, including six 2-light casements, a regular five-window front for the 18th-century house, and one casement for the left addition. The ground-floor window has a segmental head. The entrance features a panelled and studded door with two top lights, topped by a flat corniced and bracketed hood, located under the third window from the right on the central part of the 18th-century house. Inside, there are chamfered axial beams, a staircase with 19th-century painted iron anthemion balusters, and a wreathed wooden handrail. The roof structure includes staggered butt purlins.
