Description
This building is a barn that has been converted into a garage, located about 25 metres south of Little Horden. It dates from the early 19th century but incorporates timbers from the 16th century or earlier. The structure is timber framed and weather boarded, with part of it resting on a sandstone base, and features a plain tiled roof. It is a single-storey building with a loft and a hipped roof. There is a boarded door on the left, cart doors at the end on the right, and central sliding garage doors that were added in the late 20th century.
Inside, the left end bay is framed separately, with its stone base continuing into an interior partition, and a lathe and plaster wall leading to the loft. The ground floor of the main range has been reconstructed using old timbers and includes a loft that is partitioned off, giving it a unique 'tanked' appearance, as if it was originally designed with aisles.
