Description
No. 5 West Street is a house dated 1675, although it has been altered and extended in the 19th century. The original section features a painted brick ground floor, a tile-hung first floor, and a hipped tiled roof. The building is two storeys tall with three windows. The first floor has three casement windows, while the ground floor has two six-pane sash windows with horns. There is a doorcase with a flat wooden hood supported by brackets and a four-panelled door. On the right side elevation, there is a late 17th-century oak mullioned window. The house was extended to the left by one bay in the mid-19th century, which includes one casement window on the first floor, a sash window with horns on the ground floor, and a simple plank door. Additionally, there is a further single-storey extension from the 20th century that features two sash windows.
