Description
No. 48 Broad Street is a house dating from the late 18th century to the mid-19th century. It features painted brickwork and a tile roof. The front of the house is symmetrical and wide, with two storeys and two windows. There are two small flat-roofed dormers with later casements and an eaves fillet. The brickwork is laid in Flemish bond, with a rubbed flat arch over the ground floor, stone cills, and a plinth. The south side has sashes in reveals with 16 panes, while the north side includes a 19th-century two-storeyed angular bay with Victorian sashes. The doorcase features an open pediment with a cornice that is broken above double-scrolled brackets, thin panelled pilasters, panelled reveals, and a six-panelled door (two of which are top-glazed) set on steps. The side elevation has a tile-hung gable, and the rear extension contains 18th-century sashes.
