Description
Dorking House is a house built in the early 19th century, with some late 19th-century features. It is constructed of brick and has a tile roof. The building has two storeys and three windows. The red brick walls are laid in Flemish bond, with red rubbed flat arches above the first-floor openings and a large cambered arch above the carriage entrance on the south side. There are first-floor bands created by a stepped pattern of blue headers, along with stone cills and a plinth. The windows are sashes set in reveals, although the narrower middle light has been filled with brickwork. There is an angular bay window from the late 19th century, which features a cornice, frieze, and thin pilasters. The doorcase includes a moulded canopy supported by scroll brackets, with the lower part decorated with acanthus ornament. It has reeded pilasters, panelled reveals, a rectangular fanlight with a curving diamond pattern, and a six-panelled door. The eaves are adorned with spaced brackets, also featuring acanthus ornament and coupled guttae.
