Description
No. 31 Great North Road is a house dating from the late 17th century. It features a colour washed rough cast exterior and has a 20th-century tile roof. The building has a three-room plan and stands two storeys high. On the ground floor, there are three canted bays from the 19th century, with two on the left-hand side that have wooden modillion cornices, while the right-hand side has a larger projecting bay that is similar but lacks modillions. The first floor has two 2-light horizontal sash windows with glazing bars. The front door is on the left and consists of four fielded panels and two flush panels, framed by a moulded surround and topped with a cut bracketed hood. A red brick double ridge stack is present, and the south gable end has a colour washed brick casing at the ground floor. There is also a two-storey extension at the rear.
