Description
Forty Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1800, likely built over an earlier structure, and was reworked in the 19th century, with an additional block added to the road elevation later in the 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick, which probably encases a timber frame, and features an old clay tile roof. The front block is made of gault brick with a slate roof. The overall layout is a double pile plan with a two-span roof and it stands two storeys high.
On the ground floor of the rear block, there are two sashes with glazing bars beneath cambered heads, flanking a double door with a rectangular fanlight, also under a cambered head. The first floor has one dummy window, one two-light horizontal sash, and one sash with glazing bars. A rebuilt gault brick multiple ridge stack is present. The front block features three sashes with glazing bars on each floor.
