Description
Grooms Cottage is an early 18th-century cottage located on the east side of Mill Lane in Platt. The building features a ground floor made of random rubble stone and a first floor that is painted weatherboard. It has a steep plain tiled roof with a central ridge stack. The cottage is two storeys high, with three windows on the first floor and two on the ground floor, both positioned close to the center and fitted with modern casements. The entrance is at the north end in its original position, accompanied by a late 19th-century lean-to verandah on the right. Grooms Cottage is noted as a good example of a modest domestic building of traditional regional type.
