Description
Ragstone Cottage is an 18th-century cottage located on the west side of School Lane in Plaxtol. It features a rubble stone plinth with a brick band above, and is constructed of coursed galletted rubble stone with red and blue brick dressings. The roof is half-hipped and covered with plain tiles, and there is a north end stack with a projecting breast. The cottage has two storeys and three windows, which are modern lattice casements set in segment-head surrounds on the ground floor. The central entrance is a boarded door also in a segment-head surround. To the left, there is a gabled one-storey extension with a valley roof and a wing behind it. This cottage is included as a good example of a modest domestic building of traditional regional type.
