Description
The former Schoolmaster's House, now a Memorial Hall, was built in 1856 and consists of two sections: the school on the left and the master's house on the right. The school features an ashlar plinth and squared rubble with red brick dressings, topped with a slate roof. It is a single storey with a seven-window front, including gabled semi-dormers on the left with pointed arched windows. To the right, there are three windows flanking a doorway. The large casements have wooden mullions and gauged heads, and there is a round-headed doorway above which is a datestone, though this doorway is now blocked.
The master's house is constructed from coursed galletted rubble stone with red brick dressings and has a cross-gabled slate roof with a central brick stack. It is also one storey with an attic and features a two-window front, including one window in the gable. The casements have gauged heads, and the entrance on the right has a pointed arch with a part-glazed door. At the rear, there is a wing with a double off-ridge stack designed in a similar neo-Elizabethan style.
