Description
No. 106 Clare Lane is a cottage dating from the late 17th century. It has a timber-framed structure with a red brick ground floor and a tiled first floor. The roof is half-hipped and covered with plain tiles, featuring a large brick chimney stack to the right of the center and another stack at the left end. The building has two storeys with an irregular arrangement of windows, consisting of one window and two windows on the ground floor, which are casements. The rear of the cottage has a rendered ground floor and includes a 18th-century catslide outshut. This outshut is complemented by a hipped-roofed verandah supported by octagonal posts with plinths, which is wider than the building itself. This feature was likely added around the time Clare was built in 1793 to serve as an eye-catcher.
