Description

The Elizabeth Smith Almshouses are a pair of almshouses built in 1827. They are constructed of red brick, with a plinth that is partly rendered on the left side. The building features a central gabled projection and has a slate roof with a central return gable, as well as end gable parapets and kneelers. There are two stacks off-slope at the front and a central stack at the rear. The structure is two storeys high and consists of five bays, with Gothick glazed double casements set in gauged headed openings. On either side of the pointed arched door, which is studded, boarded, and ribbed, are single casements. A plaque at the rear of the building indicates the date of construction as 1827.
