Description

The wall and arch to the stable court at Clare House were built in 1793 and are made of red brick. The quadrant wall extends from the rear, on the north side of Clare House, standing 10 feet high and measuring 20 yards long. It ends in a brick arch, which is rendered behind, leading to the stable yard. The arch features a brick band and a stone impost band, with portrait medallions of Roman Emperors set in round panels within the spandrels. Above the arch, there is a stone eagle.
