Hugh Place 1 is a 16th-century timber-framed cottage that has been restored. The building is two storeys high and features two windows. The first floor overhangs, supported by the protruding ends of the floor joists. The ground floor is finished with stucco, while the first floor has a combination of weather boarding, timbering, and cement. The windows on the cottage are modern.
