Description

The Ship Hotel is a Grade II listed building located on the south side of The Market Place. It features a 16th-century front attached to a 17th-century timber-framed structure. The building stands three storeys tall and has four windows, constructed of painted brick. It includes a parapet and string courses above the ground and first floors, with intact glazing bars above the ground floor. A carriage arch is positioned in the center, featuring double doors. Inside, there are heavily moulded ceiling beams, and one room boasts a fine ornamental plaster ceiling. The listed buildings in the Market Place form a group, and Nos 14 to 16 also form a group with Nos 1 and 2, and 4 to 12 on West Street.
