Description

This building, known as No 1 West Street, is part of the Ship Hotel, with the main address being No 16 The Market Place. It is a 15th-century timber-framed structure that was altered in the 18th century but still features an overhang on its first floor supported by a bressummer and brackets. The building has two gables, with the west gable also overhanging in a similar manner. It has a modern shop front, while the upper part is stuccoed. The first floor has sash windows with intact glazing bars. The building consists of two storeys and an attic in the west gable, with two windows present. Nos 1 and 2, along with Nos 4 to 12 consecutively, form a group with Nos 14 to 16 consecutively on The Market Place.
