Description
Alms Row Cottages are 16th century or earlier timber-framed cottages located on the south side of High Street in Brasted. They are single-storey with an attic. Cottage No. 6 features one window, while No. 5 has no windows on the front. Both cottages have very high pitched tiled roofs. No. 6 has a painted brick exterior, while No. 5 has oversailing eaves with a timbered and plastered soffit above a half-glazed door. The projecting chimney breast of random stone has brick quoins and a brick stack above. There are 19th century restorations, including one modern tiled dormer on No. 6 and a 19th century casement window and half-glazed door on the ground floor. Alms Row Cottages, along with Haynes Cottages, form a group.
