Description

The Village House is a mid-18th century house that has undergone some alterations. It stands two storeys high with an attic and features three windows. The roof is fairly high-pitched and tiled, with a half-hipped design on the right side, and includes two dormers. The windows are 18th-century sashes set in moulded frames. The walls are constructed of blue headers with red brick dressings, which include a moulded eaves cornice, quoins, a band, and window dressings with flat gauged brick arches. There is a rendered plinth at the base. The early 19th-century sash windows have glazing bars and are set in stucco-lined reveals, with the ground floor windows featuring Gothic tracery. The entrance has a reproduction eight-panel door with a rectangular fanlight, all within a moulded frame, topped by a bracketed hood supported by pilasters. At the back of the house, there are remnants of a 17th-century U-shaped house that has been incorporated into the 18th-century structure.
