Description
Numbers 1 and 2 East Manor Cottages are two cottages located on the west side of High Street in Bramley. They date from the late 16th century, were refaced in the 18th century, and remodeled in the 19th century. The cottages are timber framed and feature red and blue chequerwork brick on the ground floor of the left side, with scalloped tile hanging on the upper half of the tall first floor. The exposed framing is brick infilled, and the roofs are plain tiled, stepping down to the right.
The cottages are two storeys high, with a tall first floor and chimney stacks located at the rear, one in the center of each cottage. No. 1 has a plinth and plat band over the ground floor. It features two 2-light, 19th-century casement windows on the first floor, and below these are two ground floor windows with cambered heads, flanking a central 6-panel, part-glazed 19th-century door. There is also a further arched entrance to the left. No. 2 has one 2-light window on the first floor and two 19th-century windows on the ground floor, along with a panelled door at the right end. The rear of the cottages includes an exposed timber frame wing.
