Description
Little Thatch is a pair of cottages dating from the 16th or 17th century, with some rebuilding and alterations from the 18th century and early 19th century. The cottages are plastered, possibly over puddled clay, and feature some timber framing. The center of the front wall and the return sides have been rebuilt in brick and are whitewashed. They have thatched roofs, with 19th or 20th century brick ridge and right corner stacks.
No. 75, on the left, was originally designed as a one-unit plan, while No. 76 has a two-unit plan. Both cottages are one storey with an attic and have a one-window range. No. 75 features an old painted plank door set in a simple wood frame with a painted rendered keyblock, and a 2-light 20th century casement window to the left. A late 20th century single-storey addition to the left is not of special architectural interest.
No. 76 has a 20th century part-glazed door beneath a brick segmental arch, with a 2-light casement window to the left and a 3-light casement window to the right, both featuring glazing bars. A swept dormer on the roof has a 2-light leaded casement window, and the return side has additional casements. Inside, there is a bar stop-chamfered beam and an open fireplace.
