Description
White Rose Cottage is a Grade II listed cottage, originally two separate dwellings, dating from the 17th century, with the right part rebuilt or added in the 18th century. The building features a plastered exterior, possibly over puddled clay, with some timber framing, while the right section is constructed of whitewashed brick. It has a thatched roof, with a 20th-century brick left end, an old brick ridge, and rendered stacks at the right end.
The cottage has a four-unit plan, is one storey high with an attic, and has a three-window range. On the right, there is a 19th or 20th-century timber-framed porch with a slate roof, featuring a plank door and a side-light. The right side has a three-light casement window with horizontal glazing bars. The ground floor to the left has five windows, mostly 20th-century two-light casements. The second bay includes a 19th-century segmental-arched cast-iron window with glazing bars, while the third bay features a large leaded casement. The swept dormers have two-light casements, with horizontal glazing bars on the left, cross glazing in the centre, and glazing bars on the right. There is also a 19th-century lean-to across the right return side. The interior has not been inspected.
