Description
6 and 8 Rugby Road are two cottages located in Dunchurch. Number 8, on the right, dates from the 18th century, while Number 6, on the left, is likely from the early 19th century. Both cottages are built of Flemish bond brick. Number 8 features a thatched roof with 19th-century brick ridge and right end stacks. The cottages have a three-unit plan and are one storey with an attic, displaying a three-window range. There is a 20th-century ribbed door situated between the second and third bays, and the windows are three-light casements with glazing bars. The ground floor openings have brick segmental arches, and there are swept half-dormers. Number 6 has a brick dentil cornice and an old tile roof with a 20th-century brick internal stack. It follows a two-unit plan, is also one storey with an attic, and has a two-window range. The entrance is at the rear, and it features four 20th-century two-light casements with glazing bars and painted wood lintels, along with two 19th-century two-light dormers. The interior has not been inspected.
