Description

This is a mid-to-late 18th-century house, originally used as a post office and store. It is located on the west side of The Green in Dunchurch, now fronting Coventry Road. The building is constructed of Flemish bond brick, with a string course, and the right half is rendered. The roof is tiled, with brick stacks at the left end and along the ridge. Originally a 4-unit baffle-entry plan, the house has been extended to an L-shape and includes a wing to the rear, facing Coventry Road. It has two storeys and a 4-window front. The central door is a fielded 6-panelled door with an early-to-mid 19th-century moulded wooden surround, corner roundels, and a shallow hood. Later 20th-century shop windows and a glazed door are located to the right. Throughout, there are 3-light wood casements with glazing bars. The ground floor to the left features 20th-century casements in slightly widened openings with brick segmental arches. The right return side to the road is irregular. Inside, a large open fireplace is flanked by cupboards with fielded panelled doors, and there are ceiling beams.
