Description

The Market Cross in Dunchurch is a Grade II listed structure. The base and steps date back to the medieval period, while the upper part was added in 1813 and serves as a milestone. The cross was restored in 1953 and is constructed from sandstone ashlar. It has an octagonal shape with four steps leading up to it. The obelisk is missing its top. The central square section is inscribed with the distances "TO LONDON 79 MILES TO HOLYHEAD 178 MILES." The back features a date, and there is a square panel near the top that has a relief of a stag.
