Description

The Italian Sculpture Garden, located to the southeast of Hever Castle, is an enclosed area featuring classical architectural elements. It includes roofless round pavilions at the corners, each with triple-arched screens. The surrounding walls are divided into bays by long buttresses and are complemented by an arcaded screen with pilasters and an entablature. A colonnade of segmental arches runs along the south side. At the east end, a loggia with Ionic columns overlooks a staircase that leads down to a lower terrace by the lake. The curved wings of the staircase embrace a fountain. This garden is home to a collection of sculptures, primarily of Roman origin.
